The beach BBQ at Blue Restaurant is held every Wednesday night from 7-10pm. Nash and I had been planning to go to the Barbeque for many months but fate conspired against us so that our Wednesday nights were always occupied with classes or meetings. Finally, we had a Wednesday night free and my mom volunteered to babysit. “Yes! We are finally going to make it to the BBQ at Blue,” I thought. I waited in anticipation all day for evening to arrive. I was also sure to keep a big appetite as it was a buffet after all.
Dinner at the BBQ at Blue
Everything flowed smoothly that evening. Xavi was not bothered that we were leaving. I inhaled the sweet Anguilla air as we drove to the West. It was a perfectly clear and gorgeous night. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by a member of the charming staff at the resort and seated close to the beach. The alluring smell of grilled lobster delighted my senses. After giving our drink order, Nash and I headed to the buffet. We were starving.
Everything looked so good. I am a meat lover so I sampled every meat available. On the buffet line were chicken, ribs, island conch soup, curried goat, fresh whole fish, roast beef, pig, lobster and crayfish. I kid you not, I had it all. Sides available included rice and peas, roasted potato, conch fritters and various salads. I had a green salad to go with my wide variety of meats and seafood. Everything was so good. I am a seafood lover so my favourite dishes were definitely the conch fritters and the crayfish. Nash’s plate only had fish and seafood as he doesn’t eat other meats but he was impressed with how tasty everything was as well. He made me laugh when he asked why we would go anywhere else for dinner when we could get such a great variety of stuff at the BBQ at Blue.
All the desserts looked amazing but I kept it simple. Bread pudding is my favourite dessert and I had two pieces. It was delicious. Nash had the chocolate mousse which he savoured for a few minutes.
Live Entertainment – Omalie 360
Omalie 360 is everything! I had not heard Omalie perform in a long time and was blown away like it was the first time I heard him sing. Persons follow Omalie around to the various places that he performs and I get it as I am now a believer too. The beautiful singing of Omalie 360 added to the relaxed, romantic, Caribbean flair of the evening. Nash and I caught ourselves a few times singing along with Omalie 360 while looking deeply into each other’s eyes. Yes corny but true! Omalie sang some of my favourites and added to what was shaping up to be a perfect evening with my hubby under the stars.
Good food, good music and good company are all important elements in a great evening. I cannot end this blog post without shouting out the staff at Blue. Everyone was so friendly and their smiles were infectious. The service was terrific and was the frosting on what was a great evening out with Nash.
If you are looking for a great place for dinner on a Wednesday night, I would definitely recommend the BBQ at Blue Restaurant at Cap Juluca.
