Early that morning I peered anxiously through the window at work. I saw dark clouds and then it started to rain. “Oh No!” I thought. I did not want anything to mess with the sunset cruise Nash and I had planned. By the afternoon however, the sun was shining brightly and so was I. I left work early, settled Xavi in with my sister who was babysitting and Nash and I headed to Cove Bay.

When we arrived at Cove Bay, we saw the Calypso Charters Boat waiting for us. Along with another couple, Alceo and Krystel, we boarded the boat. I was looking forward to the next two hours sailing around the coast which would culminate in enjoying a beautiful sunset.

The Coast

Once the four of us were settled in we were immediately offered a rum punch and/or other drinks. I looked at my husband and smiled as The Cove started to fade away in the distance. It was certainly the perfect opportunity to capture photos of the coastline as we had never seen this side of the coastline from the water. The mountains of St. Martin/St. Maarten seemed so close and beautiful as well.

As Nash took pictures, I simply relaxed and basked in the moment for a moment. My reverie was broken by Mervin who was our guide as he pointed out the various hotel and villa properties we were passing. I grabbed my phone to take some pictures and videos as it was just so beautiful.

We eventually made our way to just off Sandy Island where we stopped to wait for the sunset. It did not disappoint. The setting sun bathed us in hues of red and orange and we simply relaxed and basked in its beauty. The cares of the day simply faded away as I enjoyed this natural spectacle with gratitude for an amazing day.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, our Captain Cody started the journey back to The Cove. The lights of Anguilla and St. Martin/St.Maarten twinkled as dusk enveloped us. I snuggled into my hubby’s arms and enjoyed the cool breeze and the smooth sail. It was a relaxing and romantic end to the day. We loved it.
