YOUTH E.S.C.A.P.E. (EDUCATIONAL SUMMER CREATIVE ARTS PRODUCTIONS AND ENTERTAINMENT)

Summer is here! It is time for your children to have fun and learn new skills with The Department of Youth and Culture’s Youth E.S.C.A.P.E Programme! This arts based summer programme (camp) is for children between the ages of 11-18 (except for Drum and Music Revolution). Individual camps will be held between 8thJuly to 24th August, 2018.

Do you have a child or know someone who is 11-18 years old? Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity to develop their interest, knowledge and skills in a fun, safe workshop setting.

Which Camp is best for you?

JUNIOR CALYPSO CAMP

Junior Calypso Camp will be held from the 9th -20th July from 9am-12pm on weekdays. The camp will be facilitated by Andrew ‘Baker Jr Richardson and Angela Ruan and provides a great opportunity to learn about writing, arranging, and recording of Calypso. It is usually done for children competing in the Jr. Calypso Show for the Summer Festival but any youth between the ages of 11-18 are invited to register.

MUSIC REVOLUTION PROGRAMME (FULL)

DYC is excited to partner with the Music Revolution Programme for summer 2018. This camp will be held from the 8th-20th July and will run from 9am-12noon and 1pm-3pm. The facilitator is Darius James. It is open to students between the ages of14-21. The Camp will be held at the Anguilla Music Academy/Anguilla Community College. Lunch will be provided. This summer camp offers talented youth the opportunity to engage in musical discourse. The project allows students to think creatively, understand complex problems, develop leadership skills, and realize their potential pertaining to music and also create, record and manipulate musical pieces.

POTTERY

Pottery camp will be held from the 9th-27th July from 9am-12pm (HALF DAY). The facilitator is Melsadis Fleming. It will be held in the art room at Campus B. The 11-18 year olds who attend will learn the process and techniques to create various pottery sculptures.

YOUNG @ ARTS

This is a new pogramme for summer 2018 and will be facilitated by Colette Jones- Chin from 9th to 27th July, 9am -12pm. This is a theatre inspired camp where children will learn theatre and performance techniques, playwriting and showcase what they’ve learnt. How exciting!

THE ART OF DRUMMING

This workshop will be facilitated by Jaiden Fleming from the JAM Center. It will be held from 16th – 20th July; 9am – 12 noon (advanced group 10-18 years) and 23rd – 27th July; 9am – 12 noon (Beginners + intermediate 3-10 years). This is a music inspired camp where children learn to play the drums and various drum techniques.

CULINARY ARTS: COOKING WITH FRIENDS (INTERNATIONAL CUISINE)

This cooking camp is for students ages 11-18. It will be facilitated by Christine Benta (visiting chef) and Charmaine Rey-Richardson. It will be held from July 23rd to 27th, 9am-4pm at the ALHCS Campus A Room 33 (Food Nutrition Lab). Lunch will be provided. Your child will love this culinary camp where they can learn to prepare various dishes and learn about cooking techniques from across the globe.

MARINE HERITAGE

Do you have an 11-18 year old who is interested in marine life? This is the camp for them. It will be held from August 27th -31st , 9am-4pm and will be facilitated by persons from the Department of Fisheries. Children will learn about the sea, marine life and heritage. Lunch will be provided.

Marine Heritage Camp - DYC YOUTH ESCAPE

ART & DESIGN (ETCH, SKETCH and PAINT)

This camp facilitated by Canita Ruan will be held from August 13th-24th, 9am-12pm. An art inspired camp where children between the ages of 11-18 will learn to paint, draw and other art techniques. It will be held in the art room at Campus B.

DIGITAL CREATIVE (MUSIC PRODUCTION)

Do you have or know a music lover? This is a music inspired camp where children (11-18) learn how to produce, record, mix, and master an audio track. It will be facilitated by Akio Lloyd and Kelvin Hodge. The camp will be held from the 20th-24th August from 9am-12noon and 1pm-4pm at Anguilla Community College. Lunch will be provided.
